The Government authorized a further increase of fares airfares of cabotage; It is the third raise approved in less than a year. From tomorrow, further increases will impact in the pockets of those who intend to fly in Argentina as a result of the new increase authorized by the Government in the rates of cabotage, the third in less than a year. Through a resolution published in the Official Gazette, the Secretary of transportation, Juan Pablo Schiavi, directs reported an update of rates of reference and maximum rates on airfares to 39 cities around the country, that will begin to govern from zero tomorrow. It is the first increase authorized by the Government in 2011, but the third in the last nine months, after the rise of 10% agreed in October and of 15 per cent realized in last June. These hikes also joined in the 20% increase that they had granted to the airlines in November 2009. With the increase announced yesterday, the airlines that operate in the cabotage market may charge a maximum rate of $971 in their flights to Bariloche (so far the stop was at $899), from $823 to Ushuaia (before the limit was $762) and $697 to Puerto Iguazu ($ 646). The increase in fares only runs for the domestic flights, while the international market remains unregulated, whereupon the airlines that operate different routes between Argentine cities and abroad may continue working with free rates.
